Registration Problems: Tips to Resolve Restrictions

This list will explain the most frequently-encountered registration restrictions students see when registering for classes.  Look these over, and if any apply to you, it would be a good idea to take care of the restriction before beginning your registration.  Otherwise, your registration will be prevented during the process, and you will not be able to complete the steps and register for classes.

Registration prevented:  there is an "Admissions hold" on your account.

Contact the Admissions Office by

ADV

Registration prevented:  see your advisor about the three-hour rule. 

Contact your assigned advisor about your registration.  Your advisor's name and contact information can be found by viewing the "My Profile" option in WebAdvisor.

ASHLD

Registration prevented:  there is an "Academic Standing hold" on your records.

Contact your counselor to discuss your options for continuing your education.  You can find out who your program's counselor is by viewing the "My Profile" option in WebAdvisor.

BADDR

Registration prevented:  the College's records show an incorrect mailing address for you.

You can update your address in WebAdvisor, but you need to contact the Admissions Office to have the hold removed:

BDT

Registration prevented:  the College's records show that you need to settle up finances with the Business Office.  "BDT" means "bad debt."

Contact the Business Office to find out what you need to do to complete paperwork or make a payment.

CHILD

Registration prevented: there are Child Care Restrictions on your account.

Contact the Business Office to find out what you need to do.

CHS

Registration prevented.  If you were a Charter High School student or a Jump Start student while taking previous GTC classes, but have now finished high school and are trying to register, you may receive this hold.

Provide your diploma or GED information to the Admissions Office, located at the ARC in McAlister Square. 

If you have questions, call the Admissions office at 864-250-8109.

DEHLD

Registration prevented because of a "Disciplinary Expulsion hold" on your record.

Contact the Dean of Students to find out what to do:

  • go to the Dean of Students' Office, located on the Barton Campus, in the Student Center (Bldg 105), Room 135, or
  • call 864-250-8100.

DOL

Registration prevented:  the College's records show a loan default associated with your account. 

Contact Student Records to find out what to do about the loan default: 

  • call 864-250-8119, or
  • visit the ARC at McAlister Square.

DOSR

Registration prevented:  there is a "Dean of Students Restriction" on your record.

Contact the Dean of Students to find out what to do about the issue:

  • go to the Dean of Students' Office, located on the Barton Campus, in Bldg 105, Room 135, or
  • call 864-250-8100.

DSHD

Registration prevented:  the College's records show that there is a "Disciplinary Suspension" on your account.

Contact the Dean of Students to find out what to do:

  • go to the Dean of Students' Office, located on the Barton Campus, in Bldg 105, Room 135, or
  • call 864-250-8100.

FBR

Registration prevented:  your account has been flagged by the Registrar.

Contact Student Records to find out what to do about the issue: 

  • call 864-250-8119, or
  • visit the ARC at McAlister Square.

FNDT

Registration prevented:  the College's records show that there is a "Foundation hold" on your account.

Contact the Greenville Tech Foundation to find out what you need to do:

  • visit the Foundation office, located on the Barton Campus in the Dental Building (Bldg 112), Suite 138, or
  • call 864-250-8497.

LI

Registration prevented:  the Library has placed a hold on your account.

Contact the Library to find out about what you can do about the hold:

  • visit the Library on the Barton Campus in the Technical Research Center (Building 102), or
  • call 864-250-8319.

MISC

Registration prevented:  there is a "Business Office Miscellaneous hold" on your account.

Contact the Business Office to find out what you need to do:

  • phone 864-250-8032 or 864-250-8035, or
  • visit the ARC at McAlister Square.

ORIEN

Registration prevented:  There is an "Orientation hold" on your account.

You must complete an orientation. 

  • If you attend traditional classes, you need to visit the Advising Center, located at the ARC in McAlister Square, or call 864-250-8402. 
  • If you are an online student, you can reach Online Advisor Chris Satterfield at 864-250-8393, and he can help you. 

PAF

Registration prevented:  you need to pay an Application Fee.

Contact the Business Office to find out how to arrange payment:

PARK

Registration prevented:  your account shows an outstanding parking fine.

Contact the Business Office to find out how to arrange payment:

PPLAN

Registration prevented:  there is a "Payment Plan hold" on your account.

Contact the Business Office to find out what to do:

  • Phone 864-250-8032 or 864-250-8035, or
  • Visit the ARC at McAlister Square.

PRHST

Registration prevented:  the College needs your provisional High School diploma or record of a GED. 

Provide your diploma or GED information to the Admissions Office, located at the ARC in McAlister Square.  If you have questions, call the Admissions office at 864-250-8109.

RTNCK

Registration prevented:  the College's records show a "returned check" hold on your account.

Contact the Business Office to find out what to do about the returned check:

  • phone 864-250-8032 or 864-250-8035, or
  • visit the ARC at McAlister Square.

SSSL

Registration prevented:  the College's records show a "Student Support Services Loan hold" on your account.

Contact Student Support Services to find out what to do about the issue:

  • visit the office, located on the Barton Campus, in the Student Center (Bldg 105), Room 206, or
  • call 864-250-8432.

VA

Registration prevented:  the College's records show a "Veteran hold" on your account.

Contact the Financial Aid Office to find out what to do about the hold:
